The Crop Bioengineering Center hosted an enriching three-day Plant CRISPR Workshop from May 14-16, 2024, marking the first hands-on session since the pandemic. Participants gathered from far and wide to deepen their understanding of plant transformation and genome editing. The workshop featured comprehensive lectures on transformation methods, CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing technology and design, Agrobacterium-mediated maize transformation, and Agrobacterium fundamentals and handling. Attendees also engaged in hands-on lab practices for these techniques. The event was a tremendous success, with nearly all participants achieving the expected outcomes. We are delighted to welcome our colleagues back to Ames for this workshop after a hiatus since 2020 and are excited to share our research advancements, technological developments, and detailed protocols with the community.
